Roadmap to Beta: The new Virb gets a launch date! →
Posted on Feb 17, 2009
Assuming things go well, we'll be pushing this site out live to the world soon. If you're reading this, it almost certainly means that we did. I hope it's working well for you.
I've been working pretty much full time on Virb for about the last six months. It's really been more like seven, but for one of those I was in Thailand with Joe so that doesn't count.
We've implemented a bunch of new stuff with this launch that hopefully should help things run more smoothly. We have a proper job system in place with Gearman, we've ditched Apache for Nginx, we've spread out the database load and we've gotten a lot more memcache into the mix. Hopefully it'll all work reasonably smoothly.
As much fun as it's been playing with all the cool tech toys, the best thing about this project is the guys I've gotten to work with. Dave, Brad, Stephen, Ryan, Matt and Josh are all just quality individuals. It's a nice situation when you feel accountable to your cohorts and you're happy about that.
Enjoy.
